The Lucinda L. Jasper Scholarships were first awarded in 1993 at St. Anthony’s Catholic School in memory of Mrs. Lucinda L. Jasper who was a teacher at that school at the time of her death. Mrs. Jasper taught in parochial schools for over thirty years and was a strong advocate of a Catholic education.
Two scholarships are awarded annually to graduates of Catholic grade schools in the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. who plan to attend a Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. The Lucinda L. Jasper Scholarships awards $3,000.00 for first place and $2000.00 for second place.
To apply one must write an essay about an African American who has influenced them to continue to higher education. The student must also submit the student application form, a recommendation by a teacher, and a verified academic record from the principal.
All applicants must be in a Catholic grade school in the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. and attending a Catholic High School in the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. in the fall of the year.
