Where Are They Now?:
Currently
- works for Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) as an education advisor supporting K-12 military-connected students
- is a 5th-year doctoral student in the University of Maryland’s College Park’s (UMD) Doctor of Education (EdD) in School System Leadership Program
- has served on the SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Educators) America EDI (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) Committee
- named the SHAPE Maryland Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year in 2018,
- believed (Kennedra) to be the first African American woman in SHAPE Maryland’s history to receive this honor.
- teaches fitness classes, and
- is passionate about equity, diversity, and inclusion as her activities reflect.
A NOTE FROM KENNEDRA TUCKER
Life has been extremely busy for Kennedra since receiving the Lucinda L. Jasper scholarship in 1997. Kennedra has expressed how happy she is that she has continued to showcase educational excellence and looks forward to attaining future educational goals. Kennedra Tucker is doing quite well!
She is blessed to have a passion for health and wellness. She consistently focuses on self-care including taking and teaching fitness classes, hiking, visiting waterfront locations, and enjoying spas. Kennedra visits her parents often stating that spending time with family uplifts her.
