Lucinda L. Jasper Scholarship Fund

The Lucinda L. Jasper Scholarship was founded in 1993 by the late Richard W. Jasper, Jr. in memory of his mother, a Catholic educator for over 35 years. His wish was simple: continue her encouragement of young people and help them advance their Catholic education.

The Scholarship also promotes Mrs. Jasper’s belief that students’ lives are enriched by people from different races, colors, and creeds. In her honor, students of all backgrounds are asked to describe an African American who has made a positive influence on their lives and educational goals.

Scholarships were initially offered to students at St. Anthony’s Grade School, where Mrs. Jasper taught at the time of her death. In 1994 the scholarship was opened to all Catholic grade schools in the Archdiocese of Washington.
